魏剑峰:important to me/important for me哪个才是正确的?
魏大已经说得很清楚了,important to me/important for me都是正确的,只是意思上有稍微有些区别。
important to me 是对某人情感上的价值(important to indicates personal or sentimental value, with emotional significance)。
/important for me 某事对于某人有实际价值(important for indicates a practical benefit, not always an emotional significance)。
1)important to me
It’s important to me 其实就等同于 To me, it’s important。

- To me, you are the whole world(对我而言,你就是整个世界)。
很明显,实际上你可能只是one person, one man, one woman 甚至只是one creature(生物体),但对我来说,你就是the whole world。
You are important to me 等价于To me, you are important,意思逻辑和上面的一样,都是表达对特定的人来说,他的主观上的感受是怎么样的。
同理,
- Driving is important to me = To me, driving is important。
- Making money is important to me= To me, making money is important。
- Having a master degree is important to me = To me, having a master degree is important。
2)important for me
for表示作用的对象,同时表示 you need it,对它是一种需要。
Eating an apple a day is good for you(每天吃一个苹果对你有益,隐含的意思是你需要它)。
You are important for me,因为这是把人当做没有感情的东西,是需要的关系。
(You are still important for me)。
Driving is important to/for me均可。
Making love is important to/for me均可。
Making love is not important to him/her,但确确确实通过make love能让他们身心得到锻炼,因此Making love is still important for him/her。
To me,sleeping is important ,后者会说 To me, sleeping is not important 。
Sleeping is important for you。
Money is important to/for
Money is not important to me. But during the covid-19 pandemic, money is really important for me.
- useful to/for
- helpful to/ for
- good to/ for
- essential to/for
